Each guide covers the screen-size difference, dimensions, viewing distance, room considerations, pros and cons, and a practical verdict.

What matters when comparing TV sizes?

  • Screen area: a larger diagonal can mean a much larger visible picture.
  • Width and height: confirm the available wall or furniture space.
  • Viewing distance: the larger screen may suit a different seating distance.
  • Room layout: windows, doors, speakers and viewing angles matter.
  • Model dimensions: chassis and stand measurements differ between models.

How screen-area difference is calculated

For two screens with the same aspect ratio, screen area is proportional to the square of the diagonal. The percentage increase is calculated as ((larger diagonal ÷ smaller diagonal)² − 1) × 100.

This compares theoretical visible screen area, not brightness, picture quality or value for money.
